“A rose can never be a sunflower and a sunflower can never be a rose. All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women, too.”

Miranda Kerr, Australian model

Miranda Kerr grew up on her grandmother’s farm in Gunnedah, New South Wales, where she raced motorcycles and rode horses with her younger brother. Discovered at age 13 in a Dolly magazine model search, she went on to do campaigns for Billabong, Maybelline, and most famously, Victoria’s Secret. She is the first Australian model to be named a Victoria’s Secret Angel. She is known for her trademark dimples.

Relocating to New York to further her career in 2004, she signed with Next Model Management and invested in the Bowery Ballroom music venue. She appeared on Project Runway, the video for Kanye West’s “Number One,” campaigns for Clinique, and walked the runway for Prada and other top designers. Kerr became the face of Swarovski and designed a jewellery line for the brand. She started her own beauty line, KORA Organics, in 2009. That year she posed nude for Rolling Stone Australia to bring awareness to the endangerment of koalas.

Kerr married the actor Orlando Bloom in 2010 when she was four months pregnant with their son, Flynn. She was the first model to pose pregnant for Australian Vogue.Kerr now has two more sons with her second husband Evan Spiegel, the billionaire CEO of Snapchat whom she met at a Louis Vuitton dinner. Her Dior Couture wedding dress was modelled after Grace Kelly’s.

Although she still occasionally models in her late 30s, she has said that her goal “involves a hammock, a vegetable patch and a solar powered house.”
