Northwest Flower & Garden Festival
Fleuriste: Hazel Landscapes and Design

This astonishing design was inspired by the season’s runway trends and highlighted all American grown foliage, plus the South African protea flower which symbolizes change and transformation. A gentle spring lady, her outfit uses entirely reusable, compostable or recyclable materials, with accessories fashioned from pussy willows, berries, succulents and orchids.

Crowds were awestruck by the sheer majesty of this floral rendition of “The Ditchley Portrait”, painted in 1592 by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger, of a triumphant Queen Elizabeth, featured in the National Portrait Gallery, London. Amie Bone brought this portrait to life with an extraordinary mix of fresh flowers including blue hydrangeas, delphiniums, nigella, amaranths and stachys.

Inspired by the avant garde sculptural approach of Polish fashion designer Paulina bojÓr, this architecturally-inspired outfit is so worthy of its FASHION Magazine sponsor. The corset is wrapped with lily grass while the extended sleeves and bell bottom pants are a fashion-forward fusion of flowers and foliage, finished by a train of trailing phalaenopsis, orchids, roses and greenery.

Everything about this sassy mannequin – from her greenery tied hair bun to the tiered skirt stuffed with pockets of dianthus, dendrobium and succulents – delighted the fans. We loved that the design and production was led by floristry students under the supervision of instructors Ann Malenfant and Elisa Paquet Lessard.
