CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE DESIGN YOU’LL BE SHOWCASING AT THE MIAMI PREMIERE OF OUR NEW 2024 SERIES, ARTISTE?

Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE is one of the most exciting shows yet, celebrating art and artists is a phenomenal opportunity to truly express my passion for design. I am always excited by the Fleurs de Villes design briefs, and this year even more so as our design pays homage to Tamara de Lempicka, the iconic Art Deco painter who left an enduring mark on 20th-century art. She is celebrated for her distinctive and glamorous style, characterized by bold colours and sharp angles, so I’m thrilled to create a design reflective of this sophisticated and independent woman.

TAMARA IS AMONG THE ESTEEMED ARTISTS FEATURED AT OUR MIAMI SHOWCASE HONOURING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH. WHICH WOMEN INSPIRE YOU?

On a personal level, my sister. Additionally, I’ve been inspired by many powerful women, such as Coco Chanel, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Iris Apfel, Frida Kahlo, Shonda Rhimes, Flavia Santos, and Pink, among others.

HAS YOUR EXPERTISE IN INTERIOR DESIGN ENHANCED YOUR APPROACH TO FLORAL DESIGN?

My expertise in Interior design has played a huge part in my success. I believe the combination of a good eye for proportions, compositions, and textures has helped me improve my flower design a great deal.

WHICH HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE FLEURS DE VILLES DESIGN AND WHY?

That would have to be my first love, the Angel I created back in 2021.  As a first time Fleurs de Villes florist, the pressure of the unknown and the challenge was exhilarating, and I still have the wings hanging in my living room as a reminder of how much I loved that project, one of my all-time favourites.

FLEURS DE VILES ARTISTE CELEBRATES THE ARTS ALL OVER THE WORLD. WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION IN MIAMI’S DIVERSE ARTS AND CULTURAL SCENE?

Miami is the melting pot of cultures, the diversity of the people, the languages, and the costumes around town from walls to galleries to the vibrant people, it’s hard to pick one specific spot. Windwood and The Design District are some of my favorite spots for inspiration.

IF YOU COULD CREATE A FLORAL ARRANGEMENT INSPIRED BY ANY FICTIONAL PLACE, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

I would love to create something inspired by the movie Trolls. I know it’s silly and childish, but all 3 movies are pure ART with such incredible colours, textures and creativity. My arrangement would look like a party of course - colourful, meaningful, and utterly magical.

WHAT'S THE MOST UNUSUAL COLOUR COMBINATION YOU'VE EVER USED IN A FLORAL ARRANGEMENT?

Plum, dark red, pink and orange - and it looked fantastic!

WHAT EMERGING FLORAL TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING?

My bet this year was on bold colours and maybe a contemporary approach to floral design. However, I’ve been seeing the simplicity of using candlelight and bud vases - with lots of single stem roses placed in bud vases - which look stunning if well executed.

WHAT'S A MEMORABLE FLORAL GIFT YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED?

I once received a beautiful bouquet of red roses from an admirer I never met. It was out of the blue and was such a nice surprise, especially being a florist I rarely receive flowers as gifts.

HOW DO YOU INCORPORATE FLOWERS INTO YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

I am very much into plants, a lot more than before I started my flower business. I have lots of varieties of small green plants and orchids throughout my house, and also have flameless candles set on a timer to light up every evening.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

There is something so special about designing and delivering the bridal bouquet on the big day, that’s definitely my favourite part.

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU MOST ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT TACKLING THIS YEAR?

I have a masquerade sweet 16th coming up this November, and am excited to work with red roses, gold and glitter!

HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF FLORAL DESIGN EVOLVING?

I see no limitation on the floral industry as it is continually evolving with new mechanics, flower types and techniques. From perfect-looking silk flowers to dry flowers, and preserving bouquets, it’s an industry that will always come up with something different. Despite advancements like AI, I’m confident that a skilled florist will always be valued.

A NOTE FROM FLEURS DE VILLES:

"Julianna from La Feterie created a pair of ethereal angel wings for our inaugural Miami show, and they now adorn her living room wall. Such a memorable showstopper, all who saw them were enchanted by their delicate construction from skeleton leaves. La Feterie's consistent presence at Bal Harbour Shops shows over the years speaks to their boundless creativity and the heartfelt dedication they bring to each design. Their Hendrick’s Gin mannequin for our VOYAGE 2023 show remains a standout. Adorned with dehydrated limes, a kilt, and peacock feathers, it perfectly embodied both the brand and the Scottish theme.”
